Hydroxi Injection Technology (Pty) Ltd trading as HIT (Reg No: 2026/788347/07)
Effective date: 1 November 2026
These Installation Terms explain how we install the Hydroxi system and what we need from you. They form part of our Terms of Sale, in particular clauses 6 (Delivery/installation), 7 (Risk) and 11 (Warranties). Please also read our Cancellation and Refund Policy.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), if it applies to you.
1. Scope of installation
Installation is included in the price unless your quotation shows it as a separate item (Terms of Sale, clause 4.1). It covers:
- fitting the unit, the water tank, the gas line and the wiring to your vehicle or equipment;
- commissioning, calibration and validation of the system;
- a test certificate and a warranty certificate (Terms of Sale, clause 7.5);
- a handover, where we show you or your team how to look after the system (section 7).
Installation takes place only after your invoice has been paid in full (Terms of Sale, clauses 4.2 and 6.2).
2. What the installation involves
We do not make changes to the engine itself, the engine sensors or the air-fuel settings.
The installation does need:
- a small connection into the engine’s air intake for the gas line;
- mounting points for the unit and the water tank; and
- an electrical connection to the vehicle’s power supply.
An installation typically takes 2-4 hours per vehicle, depending on the vehicle and the number of units fitted. The expected time for your vehicles is confirmed in your quotation.
3. Booking and site access
We agree the installation date and place with you in writing. The date on your quotation is an estimate (Terms of Sale, clause 6.1).
We install at your site (mobile installation) or at our premises. Where we install at your site, please provide:
- a safe, level and covered work area, protected from rain and direct sun;
- access to power and adequate lighting;
- the vehicle or equipment, available at the agreed time and for the agreed period;
- a representative who can make decisions, present at the start and at handover;
- any site induction, permits or access arrangements we need, communicated to us in advance.
Travel costs for installation outside the Johannesburg/Pretoria area are for your account (Terms of Sale, clause 6.4). They will be shown on your quotation.
4. Getting your vehicle ready
Before installation, please make sure that each vehicle or machine:
- is in good, roadworthy or working condition;
- has a battery, alternator and charging system in good working order;
- has no known engine faults and no engine warning lights on;
- has an air intake that we can reach without major dismantling; and
- is available with its keys, clean enough to work on safely, and with enough fuel to run the engine for testing.
Please tell us before the installation about any known faults, previous modifications or other aftermarket equipment fitted to the vehicle (Terms of Sale, clause 9.2).
If a vehicle is not ready or not available at the agreed time, or if we find a fault that makes installation unsafe, we may postpone the installation for that vehicle. We will explain why. We may then charge a call-out or waiting fee as set out in the table below, unless the delay was our fault.
| Item | Fee (excl. VAT) |
|---|---|
| Call-out fee for a postponed installation | [PENDING RONNIE – Q35: call-out fee] |
| Waiting time, per hour after the first [PENDING RONNIE – Q36: free minutes] minutes | [PENDING RONNIE – Q36: waiting-time rate per hour] |
5. Health and safety on site
We follow normal workshop safety practice, and we expect the same on your site.
- Our team may refuse to work, or stop work, if conditions are unsafe.
- No smoking or open flames near the vehicle during installation and testing.
- Please keep unauthorised people, including children, away from the work area.
- The system uses an electrolyte solution that can irritate skin and eyes. Do not open the unit. Follow the handover instructions. [PENDING RONNIE – Q47: confirm the electrolyte safety wording]
- Please tell us about any site safety rules we must follow.
6. Workmanship and our installation guarantee
We will carry out the installation with reasonable care and skill, in a manner and quality that people are generally entitled to expect. Where the CPA applies, this is your right under section 54.
We guarantee our installation work (Terms of Sale, clauses 7.3 and 11.6). If the installation was done incorrectly, for example if it leaks, we will put it right at our own cost. If it cannot be put right, consumers may ask for a refund of a reasonable part of the installation price, as set out in section 6 of our Cancellation and Refund Policy.
The product warranty applies only if we installed the product (Terms of Sale, clause 11.5).
7. Handover, distilled water and your maintenance duties
At handover we will show you or your team:
- how to check the water level and top up the tank;
- what the indicators and alerts mean, including the SMS low-water alert, which is standard on every installation and sends a message to the driver or yard manager when the water runs low;
- what checks to do, and how often.
Your main duties are to:
- keep the water tank topped up, using distilled water only, unless we tell you otherwise. Do not use tap water or other liquids;
- check the tank, unit, mountings, hoses and wiring regularly for damage, leaks or loose parts, especially on vehicles that work on rough roads;
- make sure every driver or operator who uses the vehicle knows how to top up the tank;
- stop using the system and contact us if you notice a leak, damage, unusual noise, heat or smell.
The size of the water tank depends on your engine and is confirmed in your quotation. How often you need to top up depends on the tank size, the engine and how much the vehicle is used. We will tell you at handover.
We sell distilled water separately, and you can also buy it locally. Distilled water can be hard to find in some areas, so please keep a supply.
8. Your vehicle manufacturer’s warranty
Some vehicle manufacturers and dealers in South Africa have told us that they regard an aftermarket installation like ours as affecting the vehicle or engine warranty.
If your vehicle is still under a manufacturer’s warranty or service plan, please check with your dealer or the manufacturer before installation, and get their answer in writing. By confirming the installation booking, you confirm that you have done this or that it does not apply. [PENDING RONNIE – Q45: booking confirmation or a signed form]
9. Removal and re-installation
If you sell or replace a vehicle, we can remove the system and fit it to another compatible vehicle. Installation fees then apply again, as set out below. Removal and re-installation must be done by us for the product warranty to continue (Terms of Sale, clause 11.5).
| Engine size | Removal (excl. VAT) | Re-installation (excl. VAT) |
|---|---|---|
| [PENDING RONNIE – Q37: engine-size bands] | [PENDING RONNIE – Q37: removal fee] | [PENDING RONNIE – Q37: re-installation fee] |
Travel costs apply as in section 3. Removal and re-installation do not start a new warranty period. The warranty continues from the original installation date (Terms of Sale, clause 11.3).
10. Risk and liability
The goods remain our property until the invoice has been paid in full (Terms of Sale, clause 8.1).
We are responsible for loss or damage to your vehicle or equipment that is caused by our negligence or by faulty installation. We are not responsible for loss or damage to the extent that it is caused by:
- an existing fault or condition of the vehicle that you did not tell us about, or that we could not reasonably have found;
- a failure to follow the handover and maintenance instructions, including running the system without water;
- changes, repairs or removal by anyone other than us;
- accident, misuse or normal wear and tear.
For business customers not covered by the CPA, our liability for installation work is limited to putting the work right or, if that is not possible, refunding the installation price paid, to the extent the law allows.
These limits do not apply to loss or damage caused by our gross negligence, wilful misconduct or fraud. They do not limit any right you have under the CPA (including sections 48, 51, 54, 55 and 56) or any other law that cannot be limited. For defective goods, see section 5 of our Cancellation and Refund Policy.
You may choose to insure the system against theft or accident damage (Terms of Sale, clause 7.4).
11. Photos and records of the installation
We take photos and notes before, during and after installation. These may include the site address, the vehicle registration or fleet number, and readings taken during testing. We use them to confirm the quality of our work, to deal with warranty claims and to keep a record of your installation.
We handle this information as set out in our Privacy Policy. We will not publish photos that show your vehicle, registration, company name or people without your permission.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Installation Terms from time to time. The version that applied on the date of your order applies to that installation. The latest version will always be on this page, with its effective date.
