Hydroxi Injection Technology (Pty) Ltd trading as HIT (Reg No: 2026/788347/07)
Effective date: 1 November 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how hit.africa uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. Please read it together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who we are
Hydroxi Injection Technology (Pty) Ltd trading as HIT (Reg No: 2026/788347/07) (“we”, “us”, “our”) runs hit.africa and is the responsible party for personal information collected through cookies on this website. Our contact details and Information Officer are set out in our Privacy Policy and at the end of this policy.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit it. They let the website remember things, such as whether you are logged in or which cookie choices you made.
- First-party cookies are set by hit.africa.
- Third-party cookies are set by another company’s service used on our website, such as Google.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
This policy also covers similar technologies, such as your browser’s local or session storage, which work in a similar way.
3. Our approach
South Africa does not have a law just for cookies. Where cookies collect personal information, POPIA applies. The Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (section 43(1)(p)) also requires us to publish our privacy policy and security procedures; this policy and our Privacy Policy do that. We follow these rules:
- We only use strictly necessary cookies without asking you first. The website cannot work properly without them.
- We only use analytics cookies, or any other non-essential cookies, if you agree to them through our cookie banner. Under section 11 of POPIA, your consent is our lawful ground for these.
- We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not use tracking pixels from social media or advertising networks. If we ever want to, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first. We will also follow section 69 of POPIA for any electronic direct marketing.
- You can change your mind at any time (see section 7).
4. Cookies we use
The cookies below are grouped by category. Durations are the provider’s defaults and may change. [CONFIRM: cookie scan of the final website]
4.1 Strictly necessary
These cookies are needed for the website to work, to keep it secure and to remember your cookie choices. They do not need your consent. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the website may then not work.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cmplz_banner-status, cmplz_consented_services, cmplz_policy_id, cmplz_functional, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_marketing [CONFIRM: cookie scan] | hit.africa (Complianz cookie banner) | Remember your cookie choices, and whether you have closed the cookie banner, so we do not ask you on every page | 365 days [CONFIRM: cookie scan] |
| wordpress_test_cookie | hit.africa (WordPress) | Checks that your browser accepts cookies. Only set on the login page used by our staff | Session |
| wordpress_[hash], wordpress_sec_[hash], wordpress_logged_in_[hash] | hit.africa (WordPress) | Keep logged-in users, such as our staff, signed in securely. Only set on the login and admin pages, not for ordinary visitors | Session, or longer if “Remember me” is ticked |
| wp-settings-[user ID], wp-settings-time-[user ID] | hit.africa (WordPress) | Remember display settings for logged-in users. Only set in the admin area, not for ordinary visitors | [CONFIRM: cookie scan] |
| comment_author_[hash], comment_author_email_[hash], comment_author_url_[hash] | hit.africa (WordPress) | Remember your name and email for next time, only if you leave a comment and ask us to save your details | [CONFIRM: cookie scan] |
| [CONFIRM: cookie scan – any cookies set by our hosting provider’s servers] | hit.africa (Afrihost hosting) | Keep the website running securely and reliably | [CONFIRM: cookie scan] |
Our website also saves a small item in your browser’s session storage (wpEmojiSettingsSupports). WordPress uses it to check whether your browser can display emoji. It contains no personal information and is deleted when you close the tab.
4.2 Analytics (only with your consent)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website, for example which pages are visited and how people find us. These cookies are only set after you accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics does not give us your name or contact details.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics (Google) | Distinguishes users | 2 years |
| _ga_[measurement ID] | Google Analytics (Google) | Keeps track of the session | 2 years |
Some browsers shorten these periods. Google states that Chrome limits cookies to a maximum of 400 days, and Safari to 7 days, if you do not return to the website.
5. WhatsApp and other links
Our “Chat on WhatsApp” buttons, including the one in the compatibility checker, are plain links. They do not load WhatsApp on our website and do not set cookies on hit.africa. When you click one, WhatsApp opens in a new tab or in the WhatsApp app. From then on, WhatsApp (Meta) handles your information and cookies under its own privacy and cookie policies.
Our compatibility checker and savings calculator run in your browser and do not set cookies [CONFIRM: cookie scan].
6. Content from other services
We host the fonts used on our website on our own server, so loading a page does not connect your browser to Google Fonts.
If we add other outside services, such as embedded videos or maps, they may set their own cookies. We will add them to this policy and, where needed, ask for your consent first.
7. How to manage or withdraw your consent
- Cookie banner: when you first visit, you can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or choose by category. Rejecting is as easy as accepting.
- Change your mind: you can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent does not affect the use of cookies before you withdrew it.
- Google Analytics: you can also install Google’s opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- If you reject or withdraw consent, we will not set analytics cookies. Cookies already set may stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them.
8. Browser settings
Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies. You can usually find this under Settings, then Privacy or Security. The help pages of the main browsers explain how:
- Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
- Mozilla Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/clear-cookies-and-site-data-firefox
- Microsoft Edge: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/manage-cookies-in-microsoft-edge-view-allow-block-delete-and-use
- Safari: https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/manage-cookies-sfri11471/mac
If you block all cookies, some parts of our website may not work, and we may not be able to remember your cookie choices.
9. Your rights
Where cookies collect personal information, you have the rights described in our Privacy Policy, including the right to access and correct your information, to object, to withdraw consent, and to complain to the Information Regulator.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when we add, remove or change cookies, for example if we add a new outside service or open an online shop. The latest version will always be on this page, with its effective date. If a change needs your consent, we will ask for it again through the cookie banner.
